 John grew up in the Catholic religion and just went through the motions during his teen years.  Thirteen years of his life can be summed up as a pursuit of personal happiness and self-actualization, setting ever-increasing goals to try and fill the God-shaped whole in his heart.  In 2008 God got his attention when John was at the lowest point in his life.

After surrendering his life to Christ, he met Angela through the singles ministry at his church in Utah.  Soon after, John was exposed to the Hungry For Life vision video about a world transformed.  He then realized he wanted to use the gifts God has given him to this end.

My journey as a Christian has been a series of peaks and valleys my entire adult life. I have led and participated in various ministries but there was always something missing. I lacked the joy I so longed for living the "Christian Life." Then in 2004 with the demise of my marriage, I came to the conclusion that I would never measure up and I was just tired of "playing church," so I drifted away for a season.

Eventually I realized I wanted God but I was so tired of complacent Christianity.  As I pleaded with God to give me His purpose and joy, I get introduced to a trip to Haiti and my heart actually leaped inside me! I so desired to serve God's kids as my heart ached for mothers who have nothing, while I had so much (Luke 12:48). A single mom with four kids, but I had finally found the joy and purpose I had longed for! I took my first trip to Haiti in 2009, where I got to meet the two girls that my family sponsors. My life has never been the same, and I am privileged to go again and introduce my new husband, John, to the little boy he sponsors. We both desire to use our God-given gifts in the ministry of Hungry For Life to serve the Church and a hurting world, and we know in doing so that the joy never ends (Matthew 15:11).
