In 2005 Steve found Christ and quickly became involved with everything associated with Christianity. He felt lost as to what REAL Christianity looked like until he found it in James 1:27: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (NIV)
This verse came to fuel his passion for missions, after a few short trips to Haiti, Steve began to realize that he could best serve God's plan for his life in Canada. After leading a team trip from his church to Haiti, he began to observe that in leading the trip he had helped ignite his church to live out what James was writing about. Steve joined HFL in September 2008 and has been actively involved in Haiti and Uganda as a Project Manger. Steve and Carmen added to their family at Christmas time with the birth of their little boy Jesse. Jesse has already begun his work at HFL, travelling with his parents to Uganda in Fall 2009.
