Hello from Haiti!

I am pleased to say that our medical team has safely arrived without too much drama, especially considering that our medical team includes all of our infamous tubs of medication. We were blessed to find favour in the eyes of the customs agents. We were then treated to a quick ride through the city and out to the site at Haiti ARISE.

The team here has prepared a long time for this visit with a long list of chores and homey touches to make us as comfortable as they can, including electricity, fresh coats of paint, tiles and buying some food to take care of our physical needs.

Orientation to our home for the next few weeks included information about drinking water, our princess bed nets to keep mosquitoes away from our tender flesh, times for clinic and food. It also included information about the amazing story of Haiti ARISE, from nothing to a trade school, a bible college, and a bi-annual medical clinic all in the space of six years.

Today we ran our first half-day of medical clinic seeing a whopping 62 patients while we sorted out how we were going to work together; get the answers to the questions that we needed to treat our patients to the best of our ability; deal with the heat and maintain our hydration balance.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the team to give some updates and impressions of their experiences of their time here.

Team Leader, Jackie

Thanks for updating the blog. Look forward to hearing and seeing more. Sure wish I was there with you guys! The last picture seems so different from what I remember... actual windows and is that an airconditioner that I see!? So glad that customs was a more simplified process for you guys this time. I will keep praying. Hugs, Amber
