First update from the field!

11/20/07

Monday morning greeted us with clear skies and warm tempuratures. As we sat out on the upper porch to dedicate this day to the Lord the team conversed with each other the fact that the Haitan people are loved by God just as much as every one else around the world. We challenged each other to go out and not only use our hands and feet for the Lord through the construction projects set before us, but also to use our hearts and voices to share God's love with those we come in contact with.

The team today was divided into two; 3 of us went to Dumay to begin installing the roof onto the new feeding centre that MTM is building in that village. The balance of the team went up the mountain to Gramothe to build new benches for the that feeding centre.

The Gramothe team had a great day working together, getting to know each other and interacting with the local villagers. One highlight for the day for that team was for the three young teenagers that are part of our team. Adrianne Ediger (11), Victoria Ediger (14), and Brett Lee (13), all had a great time playing with the school kids in the village. It was awesome to see that it doesn't matter where they are, kids always seem to make friends quickly and they all had a great day interacting with the local kids. The team managed to organize themselves quite well and were able to get 16 benches made for the new feeding centre in Dumay.

The Dumay teams day started out with some challenges. The first, driving around the city to 4 or 5 different building supplies to buy metal roofing material for the roof. The stores either had no stock or the price was higher than we wanted to pay. But in the end we found enough material to get the job completed. The second challenge was to actually get to the village. The night before it had rained alot and the river bed that we had to cross was alot higher than usual. We spent 45 minutes scoping out and discussing about a suitable section to cross at. After some prayer and great driving by Junior we managed to get across and over to the village. The rest of the day was spent working along side the construction workers of MTM as we began installing the roof and completed the stucco inside the feeding centre.

At the end of the day we all met back at the MTM base home where we are being hosted by Willem and Beth Charles and their family, had a great meal and spent the balance of the evening discussing the events of the day, the things that God had impressed upon our hearts and strategizing for the next day.

Praise God for safety today, much work accomplished and many relationships kindled with the people of Haiti.

Thank you for your continued prayers; travelling went well from Seattle to Haiti, Brett Lee's illness did not bother him much while travelling and so far after one and a half days in the country everyone's health is doing well.

Just a note for the Haiti Team. You are in our prayers daily that God accomplishes great things in you and through you. It is awesome that you all made the committment to go. You will be blessed for your efforts and dedication. Please dedicate one devotion "Porch Time" to future teams. That God will give more individuals the courage and strength to move when called!

I am also very jealous that I am not there with you. But it was not meant to be this time. Send my regards to Willem and Beth.

Oh by the way for Tom H.
GO RIDERS GO! It's Grey Cup Time. What a sweet victory sending the Lions golfing and not the Riders shovelling snow.

Love Neil Froc
