A Foretaste of our Trip

8/07/07

Welcome to another Hungry For Life trip blog.

Hungry For Life International (HFL) is 'committed to facilitating opportunities for people to know the power and presence of Jesus Christ through worship and worldwide compassion.' One of the main ways we do this is through facilitating long-term relationships between organizations in North America and projects in the third world mission field. The distance is great between North America and the third world mission fields. We are privileged to be able to facilitate trips for organizations who wish to send representatives into the field to span that distance and help people to come 'to know the power and presence of Jesus Christ' in a very personal way.

If you keep checking this blog out you will be able to follow a team from Surrey Alliance Church (SAC), British Columbia, Canada, as they travel to Haiti to work alongside Mountain Top Ministries (MTM) on August 17-28, 2007. The team will be working in the village of Dumay, Haiti, a suburb of the capital city, Port-au-Prince. The weather during this time of year is forecasted to be HOTTT!!! and we will be absorbing gallons of 'dlo' ... a.k.a. 'water'. The goal of the trip is to build friendships with the people of Dumay. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, and the physical needs are great. One of the ways that we can aid friends in third world countries is through sharing the blessings that God has bestowed upon us. To this end, some of the work we will be participating in will include drilling a water well, building an addition to a school building, and conducting a soccer clinic. The team will be the first from SAC to travel to Dumay, and we look forward to witnessing the relationships that are bound to begin on this journey. Join in as we watch friendships grow and lives change by periodically checking out this trip blog!

Hi Team,
We are praying for you as you experience God working through you these next two weeks. This morning I dropped off 3 excited HFL leaders at the airport. As I am writing now, you will be at the
Dallas airport, excited, tired and perhaps wondering what will happen in the next two weeks. Although I only know two of you I am praying for all of you as you serve God in both large and small ways. As you do He will bless others and you as well. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with joyful songs, know that the Lord is God...Psalm 100:2 Blessings on you all. Hey Channy and Jer....glad to hear all is well in your current distant world. We were concerned about Hurricane Dean dampening your efforts in Haiti. Glad to know you are there safely! Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress. God bless!
Cindy G. for all us Gauthiers and Werners in the US and Canada.
