Anglican Network in Canada

China, Sanmenxia

July 1, 2011 - July 15, 2011

A team representing the Anglican Network in Canada, including 11 people from Good Shepherd Church in Vancouver, traveled to China to work alongside our partner International China Concern (ICC). The purpose of the trip was to come alongside ICC in supporting their partnership with the Sanmenxia Welfare Centre by practically caring for the orphans, and being a Godly example and help to the local staff members. The team worked with nearly 70 abandoned disabled people of all ages by caring for them and helping with the daily programs.

Completed Objectives:

  • Caring for the different age groups of orphans
  • Creating opportunities for more stimulation for the children by taking them to the park
  • With inadequate staffing for most of the age groups, the team really gave a helping hand

Team Testimonials:

“I thank Him for taking me out of my own world. It has been a real eye opener to see the needs out there, to really see beyond my own comfort zone and community.”

“I am amazed what a single touch can do for the kids. I work with kids back home, but it’s so different here.”

“I am blessed because He sent me here.”

“I want to stay longer because it is a lot of fun!”
