Worth More Than Many Sparrows

We hosted our second Ladies' Day today with just over 20 widows in attendance. Right off the bat, our translator asked if anyone wanted to testify to God’s goodness in their life and basically, every single lady put up her hand and pretty much bounded out of her seat to be the first to share. Each testimony was so exciting to hear. Over and over they told about their hopeless situations as extremely poor and marginalized widows in their communities and how God had used VOH to answer their prayers. Now they have shelter, food, healthcare, and ultimately much better self-esteem. One lady said, “Now I have a house, I have a bed, I have a mattress and I have a blanket”….all things we completely take for granted. I had Psalm 126 running through my mind the entire time “Then our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “the Lord has done great things for them”, the Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy”!! ~Anne~

In our North American culture, we have the privilege of basic medical care. When experiencing an ailment that isn’t resolved by home remedies we trot off to our family doctor or the nearest clinic or hospital.
This was not so for Kevin.
Kevin has struggled with debilitating seizures for years. He was unable to attend a school or be left unattended. His seizures were occurring daily leaving him disorientated; exhausted and incapable of doing any work.
VOH visited Kevin’s widowed mom in January and heard his story.
Medical assistance was promptly provided.
Today we visited their home.
Wow!
What a huge difference this has made in this family. Kevin sat and chatted with us with focus and joy radiating from his face. His seizures have decreased significantly and he is working alongside his mom in their fields, helping provide for the family. ~MaryAnne~
