Community Project:
In progress
COVID Relief
In Ethiopia, all schools, mosques, and churches are closed and large gatherings and meetings are not allowed, enforcing a 14-day mandatory quarantine period for all travelers to the country. As well the government is informing the people about social distancing and to keep themselves at the home.
However in the community of Kore where many are illiterate and depend on getting their food and income from daily labor, begging, and digging food from the trash dump it is particularily difficult. Additionally, many have do not have access to clean water to maintain proper hygiene and washing hands. There is no free movement of people in the markets, most of the hotels and restaurants are already closed due to fear of coronavirus, and many people are facing hunger, especially street children and the elderly. The street children who are relying on getting leftover food by begging from restaurants, and hotels, are now even more in need of food. Sniffing glue and other drugs are increasing daily because it is an easy coping mechanism that helps dull their hunger.
Simple Acts of Kindness Ministry would like to continue to provide food and basic necessities to the most vulnerable in the community.
