Community Project: In progress
COVID Relief
, Guatemala
Approximately 70% of people in San Raymundo have been left without economic income or work, due to the measures imposed by the government; There is no public transportation, most businesses are closed (only stores that sell basic foods are open). This makes it difficult for families to obtain necessary food for their families.
Currently the Guatemalan government has demanded the use of a mask in public areas, we have seen that many families have manufactured their own mask from fabrics that do not have any type of filter (filter masks are sold in the city and are expensive). Families do not have a basic hygiene and protection kit. And most parents leave their homes without adequate protection to look for a job where they can get some money to feed their family.
School children continue to work in their homes, the teachers will leave homework every week to the children's homes, this has also served as a psychological support for the boys and girls of the Jesús Viene School.
Pastor Victor would like to address the local situation by:
- Providing a food bag containing rice, corn, beans, pasta and other basic and non-perishable food.
- Providing ecofilters: Currently, due to the curfew, people must stay at home and most do not have purified water in their home. The water they drink is not safe. Eco-filter manufactured by local entrepreneurs have certification from the Guatemalan Ministry of Health.
- Providing hygiene kits containing alcohol gel, various soaps for personal and clothing hygiene, chlorine to disinfect environments, and masks with suitable filters which can be washed and reused. These are made by Guatemalan laboratories and are recommended by the Guatemalan Ministry of Health.
