Where we’re working:
Terrier Rouge, Haiti
Terrier Rouge is a community in Northern Haiti approximately an hour east of Cap Haitien, the country’s second largest city. The green hills to the south are a stark contrast to the arid flats that stretch between Terrier Rouge and the ocean to the North. About 20,000 people call Terrier Rouge home and about 40% of them do not have regular employment and work as casual laborers. Those that do have regular income mostly work as mechanics, construction trades, or with local agriculture, though most of the agriculture is subsistence farming and does not produce enough to be a profitable business.
