March 2020 Project Update:
Tutoring
Yapak, Philippines:
A non profit organization that was also helping the Yapak Elementary School had given us the rights to use their facility that they built inside the school as the organization had phased out their work in the area. It is a 2-classroom resource that was used for elementary reading remedials. We are now using it to continue on with the reading remedial and employed a teacher to run the services. It is very important to give the young kids a good head start in their reading and comprehension. There are over 60 elementary kids that are using this service daily.
We are also running a daily mathematics tutorial at the Oasis for High School students. The head tutor is Ronilyn. She is the first sponsored person we had that graduated from University. There are 40 students that are currently using this service.
The tutorial services are made possible by the financial assistance of a family in Vancouver B.C.
The University students are adapting well in their studies. In three years’ time, we are hoping to see several students become nurses, agriculturists, accountants, teachers, flight attendants and some should be entering the medical field to be doctors. This ministry is quite hard to run as the involvement in the lives of kids can be extensive and taxing, however it is also quite amazing to see the growth in the lives of these kids.
