Community Project:
In progress
COVID Relief
The island of Boracay is predominantly based on tourism income and it is unlikely of opening anytime soon due to the government regulations on quarantine and the continuous increase of COVID infections in the country. The Island itself has been cleared off and remained free from the virus, however, the rest of the country is not. Many countries that frequent the Island are still in lock down as well. Because of that, most of the residents that live off of tourism industry will fall into the No work No Pay category
The imminent danger of starvation is very real specially to the senior citizens and children. The local government is trying to offer some food assistance of mostly rice which is helpful but dietary constrictive as it will cause a lot of future health problems due to lack of nourishment. The assistance is also very limited. Additionally, many of the senior citizens are unable to buy their medications and many of the children will move towards malnutrition.
Strong Roots Ministries is seeking to provide regular food packs to needy families, as well as providing milk and medicine packs.
$20 will provide a family with food for 1 month

"Although the Covid epidemic did not touch the lives of the residents of Boracay. The ensuing hunger due to the quarantine was equally painful. There is still no possibility of work as tourism is still off limits. People are starving and our compassion must lead to proper actions.
