Hunger Virus Update
Tuesday, December 8th, 2020
Over the course of this year we have ALL felt the impact that this pandemic has caused.
Here in the developed world, economic slowdowns have resulted in a loss of jobs and government restrictions.
In the developing world however, many live day-to-day and the global economic downturn has resulted in major food shortages. The world bank estimates that by next year, an additional 150 million people will be driven to extreme poverty.
We just had to respond, so in partnership with our vast network of churches, businesses and groups we have committed to assisting the most vulnerable around the world where we work in providing food and basic necessities to sustain them through this most challenging time.
Since we launched the Hunger virus campaign, we are so encouraged to have been able to send over $370,000 in direct Covid relief to 25 international partners in 14 countries. This means that - thanks to your generosity, over 25,000 people have received a 1 month supply of food, and over 12,000 people have received 1 month supply of fresh drinking water
Several of our partners have now transitioned from providing food, to creative solutions which will encourage sustainability within their community. One example of many, in Jeremie, Haiti we partnered with a group of 15 farmers who received training and assistance with planting crops, now a further 200 farmers in the region will also be receiving agricultural training.
Thank you for your generosity and thank you for continuing to partner with us as we address the Hunger virus that the poor fear more than the Corona Virus.
