Covid Relief in Zaporizhzha, Ukraine
There are many impact stories from the Ukriane of those who have recieved much needed food hampers during this. time.
"Even though this pandemic has had a great impact on many people God is still good and He provides even in times like these! The food and hygiene supplies that we received from you were so timely, those who received your gift are very grateful. There are still many that are in need, but we were grateful that we could help as many as we could. It took us almost a whole month to distribute all the food and hygiene hampers to the neediest in the surrounding villages. We made sure that we found the most needy families in the villages by visiting the city hall and the village churches. Once we had this information, we sat down prayed to God to give us direction and guidance as to where to go. Through these hampers we were able to meet people that we never knew. We had so many interesting conversations.
To witness God’s love through these hampers was amazing. To see how God loves and cares for us, that these hampers would arrive just in time. The people receiving these hampers were so grateful for these gifts and were all thanking the Lord for you dear Canadians.
There are so many stories of going into non-Christian homes. After spending some time with them and presenting them this gift of a food hamper that they were not expecting they just couldn’t believe it! Many fell to their knees and started crying and praying. They just couldn’t believe that someone would care enough to give them a food hamper, someone from so far away. I was able to visit Sasha, a man who had a stroke recently. I was able to provide him with a walker that you sent, to assist him in getting around. He was so grateful for the walker and the food hamper. Sasha and his wife are now starting to read the New Testament. This gift of a walker and food hamper was a real testimony of God that they were reading about.
The other place we visisted was a lady who had a stroke and she can’t walk on her own so she uses a stool as a walker to get around. She takes a few steps and then takes a rest on her stool. She has a son with epilepsy that lives with her. Her husband has passed away so she takes care of her son by herself. She was overjoyed to receive a gift of food. We also visited babushka, 70 years old, who is very poor. Her house is in disrepair, the ceiling above her head is falling down. She is raising a grandson and great grandson who are both orphans. She was so tahnkful for your help.
One man we visted in our village, has seven grandchildren that live with him and whom he raises by himself. When we gave the gift of a food hamper, he just sat down and started to cry. He said to us that it has been so difficult for him to provide for the children and to find a way to survive. He said the hamper brought a way out and gave hope that somehow they will make it.
One of the young mothers whose child has cerebral palsy and can’t talk or do anything for herself, could hardly hold her emotions back when she received the food and hygiene hamper. She said it is such a blessing to her during this time and that they can't imagine how timely it was for her.
There are so many more stories of people that we were able to help. We are so grateful for those who sacrificed their time and finances to provide these food and hygiene hampers. We want to thank you for providing us with a van that we can serve the Lord in the surrounding area of Zaporizhzhya, to spread God’s love to others. May God bless you richly."
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6: 24-26
