Emergency Relief:
Hurricane Matthew 2016
On October 4, Hurricane Matthew pounded Haiti with winds of up to 250 km/h, dumped up to 40 inches of rain and left behind widespread devastation across the country, making it the worst hurricane to hit the region since 1963! Official reports now state over 1000 deaths, 1.4 million people in need of immediate humanitarian assistance and cholera beginning to spread in the southwestern part of the country. Tens of thousands of people are still living in temporary shelters and camps as a result of the 2010 earthquake that rocked the country, many of which have now lost everything due to the hurricane.
The need is now greater than ever. Hungry For Life has 3 local partners in Haiti who were impacted and are now providing immediate relief assistance to some of the hardest hit areas. HFL tracks all donations and ensures that 100% of what you give goes directly to the specific project and area of need. Our partners have been assessing communities that have been affected and have begun distributing food, medical supplies and water. As funding permits, houses will also be reconstructed for families who have lost their homes.
