Calvin Christian School - July 2017 | Hungry For Life
Team:

July 2017: ,

In July, 13 people traveled to Haiti to work alongside Lemuel Ministries in Anse Rouge. The team, comprised of secondary students, worked with the locals to help with the construction of the school, assisted with an agricultural project, provided food gift baskets during home visits of widows and elderly in the community, and taught English and computer classes.

Team Testimonials:

"This trip taught me to always help others when I can and to never take anything for granted."
"I was affected in seeing how the Haitians welcomed us and worked alongside of us to get results."
"I more vividly realized the reality of a developing country - in Canada streets are clean and everyone has access to waste removal and clean water."
"Once again it is clear how blessed we are to have the basic needs of life met and how we have taken it for granted."
"I have been taught to be less careless and make more use of my time, money, etc."
"I went to Haiti to teach them, but they ended up changing me."

Our day began with the routine that we have become accustomed to; alarms waking us up at 6:30 a.m., getting ready for our day, and eating a delicious breakfast provided to us by the friendly hospitality staff at Lemuel.

Sunday in the Village

Our morning started off with a wake up call at around 6:30am in order for everyone to be ready for breakfast at 7:00. A few of us were even awake to witness the sweet surprise of a quick rainfall, which accounted for the heavy humidity in the air all day.

A Wonderful Day

Long before first light this morning we were woken by the Haitian alarm clock - crowing roosters. Not soon after we could hear the Haitians beginning their day of work. It seemed as if the entire village was busy working by 5:00a.m.!
