Chilliwack Ladies Group - October 2014 | Hungry For Life
Team:

October 2014: ,

In October, a group of 7 ladies plus HFL leader Jessica Goshulak went to Kenya on a two week service trip. While there, the team focused on three aspects: ministering to local widows; serving and educating orphans at both the Mukumu Children's Home and local schools; and helping a small group of disabled children. Prior to the group leaving, they actively fundraised and were able to raise enough to drill a well in the community of Kakamega and build a house for Margaret, a local widow. These activites were completed before the team arrived so they were able to see the finished product.

Thank you for all your prayers and support over the two week period they were gone.

Team Testimonials:

"[I have been changed and will] sacrifice more so others can have more!"
"It breaks my heart to see widows struggle day after day to supply food, clothing, shelter & school fees for their dear children."
"I knew of their (orphans & widows) poverty but pictures do not do justice; smells, sounds & conversation speak loudly. My heart cries out for them."
"[Because of this trip I] have become more aware of the needs here — personally aware of specific people & situations."
"I will truly count my blessings one by one. Having seen the poverty I don't have an excuse NOT to help. I have a responsibility."
"I need to take more time to give thanks to God for all I have."
"I have grown to understand the sacrifice Jesus made when he came from heavenly riches to dwell in our poverty."
"[In the next six months] I would like to pass on my passion for the widows, orphans & disabled!"
