Team:

November 2014: ,

A team of 19 people from Crosspoint Church in West Valley, Utah and Gateway Community Christian Church in Mountain View, WY traveled together to the Rio Blanco area to begin a partnership with the community. This was also the beginning of a partnership between the two churches.

Community projects:
Additional items accomplished:
  • Continued construction on local church building (not complete, but worked on it)
  • Worked with 100 children at the Children’s Center, conducted home visitations int he Bordo at church’s request
  • Raised $8,000 in project money for construction and care at Children’s Center

Team Testimonials:

"It broke my heart to see the sadness and hopelessness in the children who did not attend the children's center. There is a big difference between the children who attend and those who do not, because of the knowledge of the love of God. I hope all children in the area will soon be able to attend the children's center."
"This trip was a strong reminder for me that only God has the whole plan in His mind. God is everywhere, no matter how much or little you have. It is God we need to thank for everything."
"This trip has opened my eyes to the bond we have in Christ to other believers. Christ's often repeated command to care for the orphans and widows became much more real to me. I better understand why God considers this so important a task for His church."
"My faith is changed. I feel like my relationship with God has been strengthened by the people I met. I also realized that God's language is universal. I can still have a relationship with the Honduran people because of that, even though we don't speak the same language."
"The people in the Bordo in San Pedro Sula are content and happy with what the Lord has provided. I am learning contentment from them."
"This trip has challenged my perception of material needs and heightened my awareness of spiritual blessings. I now have a greater awareness of the global church. A woman spoke at church and God used her testimony to speak to me. The way she thanked God for His provision in the midst of such poverty was incredible."
"My prayer life will have better focus after this trip. I can't fix any situation but God can move mountains!"
"I was so impressed and very inspired by the women of the church in Honduras. I loved their devotion to the children and the way they led them in truth and love-giving firm and loving discipline when needed. I was impressed with how they tried to communicate with us and help us with every need. They were very beautiful women, but their beauty was far surpassed by the beauty in their hearts. This has made me more aware of how God intends for us to interact with each other."
