Ending Violence Educators - February 2017 | Hungry For Life
Team:

February 2017: ,

A team from B.C. worked alongside our partners in Guatemala in the communities of Membrillal and Zapote. They held group sessions to bring about transformation through the power of knowledge, specifically on the topic of violence. Specific project activities included: teaching hygiene classes, sex education, facilitating a feeding program and building a house and stove for a family in need.

Team Testimonials:

"Telling a family in Membrillal that they were going to receive a new home and stove was an emotional and powerful day!"
"One highlight was watching the community leaders form committees and take charge of finding solutions to end violence in their community."
"Over 100 women came to the school in Zapote for the women's health talk. It showed me the strength of these women and the community of togetherness."
"I feel humbled."
"We were in Zapote praying that we might be able to go to a public school and the occasion came up. In our teachers meeting, one of the teachers was so engaged in our message and volunteered to help and join the committee."

Receiving Blessings and Gratefulness

Today was our first visit to Membrillal. We went with much optimism, as we were already missing the familiar people of Zapote. We are doing things a little differently in Membrillal. Here we have started with handing out 30 food hampers. We again met at the church.
