Hillside Community Church - October 2015 | Hungry For Life

October 2015: ,

A team of 5 members from Hillside Community Church traveled to Kenya in Oct 2015. The team developed a 4 acres self-sustaining community garden and a women’s sewing group. They also reviewed many past projects they have developed in the area including the Bar Olengo dispensary, Double-digging market gardens, Women’s microfinance co-op, bicycle repair enterprises, and local schools, as well as visited the many widows, orphans, and pastors they have developed relationships with over the past number of years.

Team Testimonials:

"The widows who are in extreme poverty share what they get with their neighbours & community. This is something that has touched my heart very much as it is not about 'me' but 'my neighbour'—a valuable lesson to learn."
"People care for the community and not just themselves."
"[One highlight was] seeing how the women in the micro-financing group have included new members and how they provide for one another to help with medicine, children's school expenses, etc. Amazing!"
"[In the next six months I will] try to live a bit slower & trust the Lord a bit deeper."

Sunday at His Blessings

Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving wonderful friends and family! We just celebrated our thanksgiving dinner which Lauri so lovingly organized for us! We started with Pure Heaven Sparkling grape drink, in real wine glasses, followed by MASHED POTATOES, Sukuma wiki (fried Kale), Kuku fry (fried chicken) and ‘gravy’ all by candlelight while the heavens opened, the rain came down, the floods came up and the power went out!
