iLive Cambodia
iLive is a Cambodian local NGO which develops young Cambodians to become agents of love and hope who will transform their society.
The Khmer Rouge genocide wiped out an entire generation of leaders. It broke and devastated a nation.
For there to be any hope of a truly peaceful, whole and prosperous future for Cambodia, it is crucial to raise up a generation who have been transformed by God because “It is transformed people who will transform their environment” (Musopole 1997). We dream that their relationship with God, themselves, their community and the environment be restored, that they discover their true identity and purpose in Christ. We yearn to develop young Khmer men and women to love and worship God so fully that they cannot help but impact their society for His namesake, to be messengers of reconciliation.
Cambodia is known around the world for its mass genocide, for death. iLive Cambodia is about developing a new godly generation who will bring LIFE and LIFE TO THE FULL to their nation. We exist, therefore, for children and youth because it will have a long-term impact in rebuilding Cambodia.
iLive Cambodia works in Prek Ho, an impoverished urban community 15 km from the capital city of Phnom Penh. The majority of families live well below the poverty line with many children under the care of grandparents or other relatives because both parents must work. Though, most often the older siblings have to forgo their education to stay at home to look after the younger ones.
iLive Cambodia operates Stars of Peace, a program for children under five and RESTORE for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.
