The Place of Rescue, A Place of Redemption

Today our beloved host, Piseth, taught us that in the Khmer language “rescue” has multiple meanings – one of them being “redeem”. This synonym is so beautifully exemplified at the Place of Rescue, which is where we visited today.
Originally 2.5 acres of soggy rice fields, the grounds of the place of rescue have been redeemed into a beautiful oasis.
The grounds were filled with smiling Grannies, smiling children and smiling staff. Everyone involved has a story. Marie wished she could have told us all of their stories, but we did not have the time. But rest assured all of the people involved have been so beautifully transformed by being at Place of Rescue. Through the loving environment that is offered, those who have been abandoned (regardless of age or circumstance) have been healed and redeemed. It is so evident that God’s hand is on this entire operation and that through His power this plot of land on the outskirts of Phnom Penh has become a place of rescue and a place of redemption. It was such a privilege to have the opportunity to visit.
