Mount Cheam Christian School - July 2018 | Hungry For Life

July 2018: ,

In July, a small team from Mount Cheam Christian School grade 12 student leadership committee traveled to San Raymundo, Guatemala to participate in the completion of construction of the elementary school building. Funds were raised by students in grades K–12 to support the project.

Team Testimonials:

"I see missions trips in a different light now. Prior to this I saw them as a 'feel good' adventure. I now realize that these trips can be an eye opening experience."
"This has shown me another culture and also the need for medical help & necessities in Guatemala."
"I realized that poverty isn't only starvation—we also experienced a lot of mental health issues during our home visits."
"Their culture is very friendly and welcoming."
"We as westerners are given so much and these people are given so little yet are still so, so grateful. And with that little they have, they all mention God and their thankfulness toward Him."
"I now have a tremendous appreciation for their slower pace of life. Simpler lifestyles focused less on materialism and more on their simple dependence on God."

Day 2: Touching Hearts

Day 2: touching our hearts.

8:00 am: We had breakfast first, it was humbling to see how much they give every time even though they might not have an over abundance themselves. We then headed to the school and we were welcomed again with hugs by the children in the schoolyard.
