Prince George Community Group - April 2017 | Hungry For Life

April 2017: ,

A team of 6 friends from BC and Alberta traveled to Guatemala to build into the lives of the people there. They worked in the community of Membrillal, assisting the local school with supplies, teaching English, preparing lunches and building relationships with the students and staff. While there, they also invested in families within the community by providing food hampers and building two homes and a stove for a family in need. It was a busy week, but one where many were richly blessed.

Additional items accomplished:
  • 2 houses built
  • 1 stove built
  • 25 food hampers purchased and 10 delivered
  • Lunch provided and served for 150 students at the school

Team Testimonials:

"I am going to try to slow down in life to 'smell the roses' and continue to be grateful for what I have."
"Presenting the first house we built to Carmen and praying/blessing the house with the Pastor and his wife was one highlight of this trip."
"My heart broke when we were unable to help more people."
"This trip made me realize that we don't need so much stuff to be truly happy."
"I will now appreciate the little things in life and realize that maybe situations that we come across really aren't that bad, we will make it through."
"Feeding lunch to the kids at the school, seeing how excited and happy they were was a highlight."
"This trip makes me feel that our culture has a lot to learn from this lovely country and its communities."
"I was expecting more heartbreak, but found that even within all of the poverty, there is happiness/joy/smiles/love."
