Team:

May 2015: ,

A team of 10 men and women from Risen Life Church, Utah traveled to Guatemala for 8 days. This was the third time that the church had sent a team to the area, with 6 returning team members. The team visited the community of Membrillal and worked on building the walls of the new church building. Then they traveled to the small rural community of Zapote to build stoves and helped build a house for under-resourced families. They reconnected and continued to build lasting relationships between the communities and the people of Risen Life Church.

Community projects:
Additional items accomplished:
  • Handed out 2000 Gospel tracts
  • Laid cinder blocks for the new church building, completing the lower wall around the perimeter of the building
  • Built 1 house
  • 2 stoves constructed
  • Provided bridge opportunities for Guatemalan pastors to share Christ

Team Testimonials:

“The in-country people said we exceeded their expectations.”
“HFL and the field partner always makes it a worthwhile experience.”
“We accomplished a lot and it felt good to see all the people's gratitude.”
“We worked hard and got more accomplished than we planned.”
“This trip was well worth it and I plan to keep on doing it [more short-term missions trips]. It was the best money that I have spent in a long time and this is my third time coming to Guatemala.”
“[This trip was] a life-changing experience and I would be interested in co-leading a group in the future.”
“The part that impacted me the most was the lady and her father whom we built the house for. He is wheelchair-bound from a stroke and she takes care of him. Now they live in a home that doesn't leak when it rains.”
