Seven Thousand Smiles - December 2017 | Hungry For Life

December 2017: ,

In December a small team from Chilliwack travelled to Haiti to work alongside Lemuel Ministries in Anse Rouge. The team, comprised of graduated Mount Cheam students, worked alongside the locals to help with the construction of a school latrine, worked on the development offices, assisted with an agricultural project,  participated in home visits of widows and elderly in the community, and taught English and computer classes.

Team Testimonials:

“My highlight was being able to interact with the community and to be able to work alongside the people.”
“I believe this trip will definitely influence how I perceive life in the future.”
“I think I will try harder to show thankfulness and appreciation for everything I'm blessed with.”
“It broke my heart to see the people of Haiti getting so little care.”
“This trip has caused me to be thankful for the many blessings we have, and to not rely on earthly things as they can all be taken away.”
“I have now seen poverty through a different view.”

Painting and home visits

The sun rose bright and early on the horizon and another day started bright and early. Breakfast was served in the gazebo, and following this we went out to the school for flag raising. We watched the kindergarten children water the trees before observing their morning prayer.

A Whirlwind of Activity

Our day, or should I say Jason’s day, started off with a start when Pastor Tony woke him up by gently calling his name to tell him that the son of the mission family needed to go to the hospital in Fort Lauderdale. Thankfully he is being well taken care of and is now waiting on test results.
