A team of 12 including HFL leader Jason Krul traveled to the community of Yapak in the Philippines. They assisted in various community development projects including construction of several homes in partnership with Strong Roots Ministries.

Goodbyes are always difficult.  This morning we delivered food care packages to the two families who we built the homes for.  It was touching to see and hear about their overwhelming gratitude to the Lord and also the team for helping with the house construction.

Last day in Yapak

Started the day off wth an amazing breakfast and praising God in church! Here in the Philippines, the children come around 1-2 hours before church would even start. They have so little and yet so happy to worship our Saviour.

    Today felt like a short, humid day. This morning after breakfast the girls went to pick up the sandbags; which part of the group had filled earlier, and the guys headed for the job site.

Building and planting rice

This morning we woke up had breakfast, and headed out to the job site. Jordan and Eric went to the first house and poured the last step and mixed the concrete in the family bathroom. The rest of the crew worked at the second home.

This morning we woke up to sunshine and had breakfast. After breakfast, Eric and Blair headed off to the first job site to concrete a step, and Vanessa and I finished the painting there also. While we doing the rest of us went to house number two.

Building and painting

After a night with no power we woke up and had breakfast. After breakfast the guys headed off to the first job site. There they finished sheeting the walls and roof of the house. Us girls loaded all of the wood into the shuttle and dropped it off at the other job site.
