Day 29 – April 7
Where might Jesus be inviting you to come along with him?
As humans, we naturally want to be in control. We make plans, set goals, and pursue our own desires, believing we know what’s best for our lives. But Jesus invites us to surrender that control, to follow Him in humility and trust rather than walking our own path. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Following Jesus requires humility and submission to His will. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”
This can mean laying down our own grand plans and expectations, recognizing that His way is always higher and better. I want the higher and better way, too, yet I also want my own way. Do you live in this tension.
God has made some promises to us about this. When we let go of our desire for control and trust Him, we experience less struggle and more peace. Jesus calls us to a life of meekness - not weakness, but strength under His control. Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Often our plans, goals, and desires feel like a burden to accomplish or realize. Walking with Jesus means trading our burdens for His peace, our striving for His rest.
So, where might Jesus be inviting you to come along with Him? Maybe He’s calling you to step out in faith, to let go of a plan you’re clinging to, or to trust Him in a season of uncertainty. Maybe He’s leading you toward deeper obedience, a new opportunity, or a greater reliance on Him. Whatever it is, the invitation is clear: deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him (Luke 9:23).
Will you trust Him enough to let go? Will you surrender your plans for His? The journey with Jesus is not always easy, but it is always worth it. He promises to walk with us, lead us, and never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). If you step forward in faith to follow His path, you may find He has gone ahead and prepared the way.
Day 30 – April 8
Where can you invite Jesus to be more present in your life and relationships?
