VISION
We are all hungry for life
Hungry For Life has its roots in a monthly interchurch worship event called Shekinah. Initially a ministry of Chilliwack Alliance Church, Shekinah grew to bring together hundreds of people from many different churches and denominations with the same passion: to know the power and presence of Jesus.
As Shekinah developed, the core leadership was led by the Word of God that its worship must be expressed in much more than music. “Worshiping with our lives” became the mandate, guided by the biblical principles in 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Isaiah 58:10. The ministry of Shekinah began to engage in international relief projects as an outflow of a renewed and passionate relationship with Jesus Christ. With more and more opportunities to lead people to experience and to demonstrate the love of Jesus, it became obvious that the vision for this work should encompass more than one church and that an organizational structure would be needed to facilitate this vision.
We see the need for physical and spiritual change in the world and aspire to address it. Our incredible team of staff offer experience, passion, and commitment to global projects supporting communities in need.
...and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
MISSION

How we fund our mission
We use the 100% model. 100% of funds donated to projects go directly to projects. Simple. How does it work? People give to:
Project funds
Churches and community groups raise funds for relief and development projects.
Operational costs
Overhead expenses are met through separate fundraising activities throughout the year.
Staff members
Staff commit to raising funds to cover their wages and ministry expenses.
The core of who we are
Spiritual transformation
Our motivation is the love of Jesus, and we work with Him to build His Kingdom. We believe in the restored credibility of the Church, evidenced by justice and compassion.
Transformational relief & development
Our work is done by facilitating direct partnerships between global communities.
Localization of leadership
Transformational servant leaders develop their communities. Our commitment is to work alongside and support these leaders.
People and relationship focus
Everything we do puts value and care for people first. All our work is done through the strength of reciprocal relationships.
Financial transparency
100% of the funds given for international projects will be used for projects.

Hungry For Life
Our vision will only be realized when selfless values are lived out by an ever increasing number of God’s people.

Our vision will only be realized when selfless values are lived out by an ever increasing number of God’s people. In this book, HFL founder and Executive Director Dave Blundell presents a concise summary of physical poverty in the developing world and spiritual poverty in the developed world. He then paints a biblical picture of a compassionate community of faith, comparing the contemporary Western Church against what it was intended to look like. The final section includes the core value changes necessary for the Church to rediscover its place as a relevant force of love and compassion.

Professionally Religious
We are all tired of hearing about the failure and recession of the Western Church.

We are all tired of hearing about the failure and recession of the Western Church. We are also tired of trying to find methods to resuscitate it and see a resurgence of its impact. As leaders, we need to stop looking at ways to renovate the Church and first look at ourselves. We need to examine our own spiritual poverty as the leading cause of the Church’s failure to be more than it is now. The spiritual transformation of its leaders will result in the spiritual transformation of the Church. Professionally Religious is for pastors, directors, CEO’s, boards, elders, teachers, managers, parents, and anyone concerned about spiritual influence.

One dollar becomes six
Because of our core value that 100% of monies raised for projects go to projects, for every $1 we raise for operations, $6 is leveraged for international compassion.
