Silas Owiti Oduor grew up in a small village in Kenya called Yogo, in the Siaya District. He was raised by godly parents who pastored in the region. Silas’s personal relationship with Christ began in 1997. As a young man, Silas spent several years living in Canada, during which time he graduated from university in Ottawa with a BSc in Microbiology. After university, Silas felt the Lord calling him back to Kenya, where he began to build Christ Glory Centre Ministry.
Christ Glory Centre Ministry is currently composed of two comprehensive schools, each offering a solid education from Baby Class through Grade 9. Both schools have large enrollments of local students whose families cannot afford education. Agriculture and animal husbandry projects help support the schools, with the help of staff and parent volunteers. These schools are where Hungry For Life has been focusing its engagement with Glory Centre Ministries.
This January, the doors will open to a new comprehensive school just outside of Siaya Town called Hillside Glory Centre Comprehensive. This school will act as a social enterprise, welcoming students from town who will pay for the excellent education the schools are known for. The funds generated will help support the Seje and Yogo comprehensive schools and may also allow the ministry to provide scholarships to secondary students.
The Glory Centre Ministry also includes a clean water project, farms, relief for widowed women and families, and more than a dozen community-based church congregations.
Everything is anchored in the unwavering, unshakable Word of God, and the church is the foundation through which God will accomplish His work.
The greatest need for this partner is people who would like to invest in supporting the schools through student scholarships, feeding program support, or classroom support.
