This morning we woke up to beautiful weather in Puerto Plata. Omelette and fresh papaya for breakfast with the team. We had a brief team meeting and left for a visit to the Vagamudo Coffee Shop. It’s an amazing program for boys transitioning into adulthood. Met John and Shannon who started this program for all things boy that matters.
We continued on to New Life Church in Sosua. Amazing message about the significance of the Lord’s prayer at an outdoor church service. Beautiful singing along with some great laughs.
After returning back to the hotel we had a brief lunch and packed up the medicine . From there our GIVE medical team left for the clinic in our open backed truck and watched the crazy drivers. We got the the clinic and set up all our supplies.
Several people did patient intake where they would create a report for the doctors, the patients would then move to the doctors line, would get seen by the doctors who would assess the patients and offer suitable treatments. Patients would leave passing by the pharmacy to retrieve their medications.
Translators were at every table, and we saw about 70 people. Outside was a beautiful atmosphere, truly encapsulating the tight knit community that they created. This community of poor people were rich in love. Kids were laughing and smiles were everywhere.
We finished the night, served with a beautiful dinner at Wind Song Villa. Looking forward to another full day of clinics tomorrow!
