Director of Finance & Administration

You will oversee and give leadership to HFL's finance department.

About the position


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or commensurate experience  


  • Administrative leadership and staff management
  • Business accounting and finance 
  • Canadian charity tax law 


  • Direct general finance and administration by:
  • ~Managing departmental staff
  • ~Directing overall financial plans and practices
  • ~Managing financial and accounting systems controls and standards
  • ~Providing timely finance and statistical reports for management and board
  • ~Giving leadership to: Payroll; donation processing; government compliance and reporting; and budgeting
  • ~Participating in setting organizational-wide policy and implementing strategic plans  

  • Direct international finance and administration by:
  • ~Initiating international wire transfers
  • ~Managing financial reporting and the Projects Financial Administrator
  • ~Ensuring compliance of contractor agreements 

Additional responsibilities: 

  • Lead 1 – 2 international mission teams per year when required 

  • Attend board meetings when requested 

  • Participate in general ministry tasks as required 

  • Member of the Sr. Leadership Team 

Skills required: 

  • Exceptional organizational ability
  • Competency in accounting software, specifically Sage 50

Accountable to: 

  • Executive Director
