El Jordán is a ministry center in Santa Cruz, Bolivia run by Marco and Corina. The staff at El Jordán help families escape life on the streets by offering assistance and training them in alternative ways to support themselves. El Jordan is meant to be a crossing ground for those who really desire to change their lives and find freedom from the daily struggles of living on the streets. These struggles include poverty, lack of education, drug addiction, and most importantly, a deep need to know the power of God in their lives.
The problems faced by Santa Cruz’s homeless are very real. Many are trapped in addiction and delinquency they never chose. Most come from broken families, often experiencing the death or abandonment of a parent, usually the father. Many flee abuse, exploitation, or lack of love. From a young age, kids often shoulder heavy responsibilities—earning money, raising siblings, or managing the home. To them, the freedom of the streets can appear brighter than the burdens of home.
El Jordan seeks to be part of the solution by providing a safe space for women and families to gather, offering Bible studies, tutoring, and practical skills training such as welding, carpentry, leatherwork, and more
