Donation replaces and frees up funds for community development

MACOL has been hugely helpful to Lemuel and to the community this past year. Despite many difficulties and setbacks, MACOL has been able to cover its staff salaries, donate to needs in the community, and support Lemuel’s development projects.  This is in addition to making food staples and construction materials more readily available to the community and its surrounding areas.

The most recent donation toward MACOL accomplished the two following main objectives; it replaced funds tied up in credit purchases, and freed up funds held in credit purchases to be able to purchase products in the US to send in a recent container.

1. One way that MACOL helps the community is by providing the opportunity to buy on credit. People are able to complete projects on their homes or purchase products for resale, and then pay it back over time. While this has been an important boost for the community, it tied up a significant amount of capital that could be used to purchase more products for sale. The donation has created a credit fund from which credit sales can be made.

2. Freeing up funds held in credit purchases enabled Lemuel to purchase products in the US to send in a recent container. This, in turn, made it possible for MACOL to offer some much-needed, high-quality items to the community.
