In 2019, after 5 years of running ONYX and training our partners and staff in facilitation and lesson design, Dove is producing a curriculum, as requested by partners, colleagues, and students. We are in the process of phasing out 2 DOVE satellites and encouraging a more grassroots approach by training ONYX alumni to run the ONYX program in their contexts.
Fieldwork contributes to emotional healing
Dove staff members are currently supporting a new program!
The Emerald Women have been studying and discussing human rights and gender issues. They started with a small group assignment which included fieldwork to conduct a survey with three groups of people: adolescents, adults, and the elderly. The goal was to survey the knowledge and practice of human rights and social expectations of men and women. Then they spent quality time together to further reflect on their report and survey experience.
It became a bonding time as they shared life stories while relaxing, cooking, playing games, doing group building activities, and having personal quiet times. They listened to each other with respect, love, and compassion. It was a wonderful time and a part of the process of healing and emotional growth that everyone needs to truly live life well.
