Our day began with a peaceful breakfast at Distinction Garden, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection. Soon, we made our way to the church where Bishop Silas was officiating. Though the service had started earlier, we arrived around 10:30 am to the uplifting sound of song. The service, which lasted until 1:30 pm, was filled with moments of worship, fundraising efforts to complete the church’s construction, and a powerful sermon by Bishop Silas. His message centered on perseverance, using the story of Elisha and King Joash in 2 Kings 12 as a reminder to stay consistent in life and in our spiritual practices. The call was clear: don’t stop pursuing grace, whether through prayer, church attendance, or reading the Bible.
After lunch at Distinction Garden, we had some downtime before heading out with Bishop Silas to visit widows in remote areas. Thanks to a quick call, 15 motorcycles showed up, ready to take us down narrow, difficult paths to reach these women. Their homes were in poor conditions, and their need for food was dire. Though these women were not part of any sponsorship program, Bishop Silas had heard their cry for help. We were able to provide them with food, and their gratitude was overwhelming.
The day concluded with a heartfelt dinner at Bishop Silas' home, where he shared his vision for a long-term educational program for children aged 3-21. Despite facing significant financial challenges, his commitment to shaping future leaders for the community remains unwavering. It was a day of witnessing the power of compassion and the impact of consistency.
