The time is fast approaching to depart on our trip to the Dominican Republic. These trips always come with a mixture of feelings- excitement, trepidation, anticipation, and perhaps some anxiety. What will travel be like? What will we encounter when we are there? What are the accommodations like? Will I like the food? For those who have gone before, this is less of a question, but the reality is, it is a very different culture, and we are on a service trip, so food is not cooked to order, but rather a meal prepared for the team that all take part in. Accommodations are dorm rooms- one for the guys, one for the gals; and at the second location, shared rooms. Our partners already have some tasks prepared for the team: assisting vin classrooms, pouring concrete around the community centre, building a fence around the church, and replacing a very leaky roof for one of the teachers, as well as the usual VBS for children, and food hampers that we will hand out.We covet your prayers as we embark on this trip: prayers that we will have safety in our travels, prayers that we will serve well and be good stewards, prayers that we will be kept from illness and injuries, and prayers that we will be blessed, and be a blessing. Please follow our journey as we post on this blog each day of our trip!
