Gardening, Meaningful Visits and Deep Emotions

Written by:

Heading

Today was a very busy day. The conditions were perfect for a muddy but productive morning of weeding in Pamela’s garden. We were quickly assigned to pull the weeds rather than hoe them, so we wouldn’t disturb Pamela’s green onions and other vegetables. Before long, our work was done, and we happily watched Pamela sow okra seeds in the freshly prepared soil.
We then headed out to visit three of our women. Their stories included sadness, but also the strength to overcome with the Lord’s help and nearness. The widows shared how much of a blessing we are to them, but if they only knew how much they bless us with their stories of strong faith and forgiving spirits.
We ended our visits with a lovely time spent with Everlyne’s 93-year-old mother, who lives on the same compound where we are staying. She is truly a woman of strong faith.
Our final job of the day was preparing for our school visits tomorrow. It’s been a full day, but a very blessed one.
In closing, please pray for Violet, one of our VOH ladies. She is very ill and was hospitalized today.
