The Sunday

Heading

Another gorgeous morning in Blantyre! And then not so much when we found a huge spider inside one of our mosquito nets!

After a quick breakfast, we had a beautiful, scenic drive through the countryside and city to get to church. The local pastor preached a wonderful sermon on Leviticus 18 and the seventh commandment with a translator beside him repeating everything into the local language, Chichiwa. The choir sang some psalms as well. After a long, warm service, we headed back to the hotel to change and continue on to the generous Oomens.

Gretchen had lunch ready for us when we got there, and we all enjoyed the delicious Dutch lunch of soup and bread. We spent the whole afternoon there playing some yard games and letting the kids entertain us with their crazy shenanigans. The Oomens offered us coffee and stroopwafels (which we all loved of course) in the afternoon and some more snacks later on. The evening continued with some gezellig conversation and getting to know our hosts. We ended the night with singing hymns around the piano before heading back to our guesthouse to wash off the day's sweat and head to bed to get ready for a busy day in Nsanje tomorrow.

A huge thanks to the amazing Oomens for being so welcoming to us and hosting us all day!
