Dove Cambodia staff have distributed care packages to 69 of the Dove Phnom Penh Learning Center students and their families who’ve been most affected by the lockdown. Packages included 15kg of rice, dried fish, eggs, fresh vegetables and other Cambodian staples.
In partnership with other groups, Dove also gave care packages in these past three months to a total of 97 families in the area where one of the Dove staff, Raeksmey, and her husband live with her father-in-law. This neighbourhood has had no assistance from the city so far. People work as garbage collectors or cleaners, or are elderly or widowed, often with many family members under one roof. Some of the students volunteered to help bring packages.
Last month Serey, Onyx-1 Coordinator, worked with current Onyx-1 students to prepare and distribute 42 food packages to 40 families in student’s neighborhood. There have been 206 families being assisted with food during this lockdown in Phnom Penh.
