Piggery profits offset primary school costs

The piggery project continues to grow and experience good turnover rates. Recently, 47 piglets were born to seven sows. The farm has 15 gilts ready to farrow and replace some of the elder sows. Despite rising feed costs and housing constraints, this project continues to do well and provides a small profit that helps to offset the operational costs of Seje Primary School.

The greatest challenges facing this project are obtaining space for expansion and meeting feed costs. The more profit the piggery project can make, the more the primary school will benefit. A financial injection of $35,000 is needed to build an additional 40 pen barn which, when fully operational, is expected to generate up to $1,000 per month toward the operational costs of Seje Primary School.
