Because of the lack of tourism during the pandemic, many people in the community are suffering financially. Many have lost their water and electricity connections due to unpaid bills. Strong Roots will continue their effort to provide meals to their community. In addition, they also provide a feeding program to children who are identified by their teachers as most at risk for malnourishment.

Neighbourhoods blessed with food hampers

Six neighborhoods of northern Yapak were blessed by the arrival of food hampers. It took some climbing up and down narrow paths to deliver them, but Strong Roots, through Renew Church, was able to bless those neighborhoods with 125 hampers.

Each hamper cost the equivalent of $25 Canadian dollars and provided families with eggs, rice, cooking oil, canned meat and sausages.
