In October of 2014 the Voice of Hope group (VOH) made their first visit to Kakamega. During their time in Kenya they met some beautiful women who, because they are widows, are trying to make a life for themselves and their children without the protection or income that a husband provides. Since that first visit, the team has invested in capital projects (improving homes and living conditions), and in food hampers, tuition, agriculture training and access to business training and microfinance loans for a very grateful group of families.

Adult Education Program celebrates fourteen graduates
Fourteen women just graduated from the very first Adult Education Program! The students worked hard to improve their skills in reading and writing and learned more about kitchen gardens in their agribusiness course. At the graduation, each graduate was accompanied by a friend or relative who shared the changes they have seen in the student’s life since starting this six-month course.
The dream is to expand the program to hundreds of others throughout the community, providing the knowledge, skills and sense of pride and hope that these first students have found.
Arrangements have already been made for the next classes (two now!) to start up and, as the graduates share their success stories, a higher interest in the course is anticipated.
