Heading
We are here with a great day one behind us. Our travel day on Friday was a long one, but an uneventful day. God went before us and the day went without a hitch. Only took 30 minutes to get across into Ukraine !! We arrived at Chad and Mary's house at 11:00pm Saturday night.
Easter Sunday Service we went to Chad/Mary's and Tatyana's church, we were greeted with enthusiastic "He has Risen" as we enter through the door. It was a wonder service with lots of singing.
After Church we went to Mary's brothers house for lunch with the Bernik family and plus some. Mary's sister Vera from the states was also there. We headed back home at 5pm to get some rest and get ready for our first group arriving on Monday afternoon.
Monday morning was busy getting ready for our guests, which included activities such as grocery shopping, house cleaning, meal prep, assembling patio furniture and fixing the hot water tank ...courtesy of Mary's brother Peter.
Our guests arrived at the retreat house at 2pm, lunch was ready for them so it was straight to the lunch table for some soup. During lunch introduction were made.
There are 17 people in this group including 5 kids.
After lunch our guests settle in to their rooms and relaxed the rest of the afternoon.
During the introductions we discovered that we have 2 master level chess players in the group, the youngest being in grade 9. Well the challenge was on, and to give you an idea on how it went ..it's Ukraine 2 , Canada 0...with the first game only going 8 moves (yikes)!!
We had a wonderful supper and a great time visiting around the table, ending with a group doing a puzzle at the end of the table.
That's it for Day 1...
