Heading
Saturday morning after our guests left we took a little breathier. We were invited to Mary’s family's BBQ to celebrate Vera’s going home to the US. She's been waiting for her Ukrainian passport to be renewed and it finally came on Friday. She is on a flight back home on Sunday night.
Sunday morning we went to church, and enjoyed a light lunch sponsored by the youth group of the church. Sunday afternoon we spent at the house relaxing and getting ready for the upcoming week. It was McDonalds for Sunday’s supper, no one wanted to cook and McDonald’s was one of the few places opened due to the fact Sunday was Ukrainian Orthodox Easter. Just so happens that Andrew and Marina and their two kids (Mary’s brother’s family) plus Vera (Mary’s sister) and Andrew (their 1st cousin) all showed up at McDonald’s. While we were at McDonald's Natasha from Nikopol and her friend were ringing the door bell at Chad and Mary’s place, so we quickly went home for a short visit with Natasha.
Monday was a work day at the retreat house. Robert continued working on his project of building a swing gazebo and Sharon did some baking.
Tuesday we left for Zviahel to Tanya (Mary’s sister) and Mischa’s place to deliver a van full of food (1.6 tons) that is going to be distributed in the east near the front line (not by us). It’s an 8 hour drive one way to Zviahel.
Wednesday Tanya and Mischa’s church hosted an evening including a meal for all the people that have gone to the retreat house for a respite. We saw a few people that were there that we knew from hosting at the house. It was nice to see them again. We enjoyed a devotion from Chad, we sang a few songs and did a therapy art exercise (broken cup) where we restored a broken cup, the broken cup representing our lives. How our lives are broken but through the grace of God can be restored, not only restored but filled with purpose.
Thursday morning we started heading home to Mukechevo, with a quick grocery shop at the Metro in Lviv. It was an uneventful 8 hour drive back home. (Praise God!!).
The next couple of days we will be working on getting prepared for our next group that will be arriving on Monday afternoon.
