Heading
Our last morning in Siaya began with breakfast before heading out for Ladies Day at Yogo Church. There, we were greeted by four beautiful widows, their faces lit with big, welcoming smiles. Their joy was contagious and set the tone for the rest of the morning as the other ladies joined us.
During Ladies Day, we shared together on a few meaningful topics, encouraging one another through stories, laughter, and prayer. We enjoyed delicious muffins and stroopwafels as we visited and listened—simple blessings that felt extra sweet in the company of these faithful women.
Later in the afternoon, we visited a couple of widows in their homes. One of them shared her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:4:
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
Her words were a gentle reminder of the strength that comes from a heart anchored in joy, even amid hardship.
We ended our day at Florence’s home, where she lovingly cooked us a delicious dinner of rice, beans, and fried cabbage. As she began preparing the meal, a thunderstorm rolled in, and we all moved inside. The sound of rain on the roof became the backdrop as we sang hymns together—voices blending in worship and gratitude. It was a beautiful and peaceful way to end the day.
As the rain continued outside, I couldn’t help but think how beautifully God had woven His presence through every moment of our time in Siaya.
