Our Final Day in Guatemala

Here it is—our last full day in San Raymundo. The past eight days have gone by so quickly! Once again, we’ve been so blessed by Pastor Victor and his family, our amazing and generous hosts.

Our day began much like usual, with morning devotions together followed by a delicious breakfast of pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit.

Our team got a tour of the school that teams from our church helped to build. The kids last day of school was Tuesday so only the teachers were there finishing up. It was so great so see the classrooms where children are learning so much.

After a short break, we set out to deliver a food hamper to a mother, her daughter, and a sweet baby girl. The mother shared about her health struggles and her deep sorrow that she can no longer attend church because she is unable to walk. It was a powerful reminder of how fortunate many of us are to have the freedom and ability to gather together in worship—something we often take for granted. One day, we too may find ourselves longing for the chance to attend church but unable to go. Let’s not overlook those precious opportunities now.

Next came a quick trip downtown to visit the market and pick up a few last-minute gifts and souvenirs.

In the afternoon, we travelled once more to Chivoc to bless several families with food hampers. Each family’s story was marked by hardship—illness, accidents, and other challenges—but through it all, God’s faithfulness shone brightly in their lives.

Back in San Raymundo, our evening was filled with laughter and celebration. We enjoyed supper together and ended with a joyful birthday party for Silas—complete with cake and a piñata!

Tomorrow will start early as we leave our home for the past eight days and travel to Guatemala City to begin our journey back to Canada.

This has truly been an incredible time of reconnecting with our brothers and sisters in San Raymundo. Over and over again, we’ve seen God’s presence and grace in our daily experiences. Thank you, Lord, for another safe and blessed journey!
