As we look back over the trip we are all inspired by the people of Atek. Their faithfulness to spreading the gospel of Jesus and showing His love to the ends of the earth. How they give their lives day in and day out to bring help to the untouched. They walk scary roads and put themselves in harms way just to tell others about Jesus. Their faith in God is strong despite fears. It’s motivating. It’s encouraging.
As we look back at the people of Peru that we met in these small villages, and of meager means, we again are inspired. This time by their worship. Their intimate personal worship for the one true King. When they sang with all their hearts and bodies, with tears streaming down their faces. It was powerful to witness. When they prayed from their knees, in loud voices and hands held high, it was moving.
So how do we take these 2 weeks and not just let it inspire or move us but CHANGE us? We aren’t all called to be missionaries in far away countries but we are all called to be on mission for God’s kingdom. On mission in our own families, our own workplaces, our own communities. We need to live with that same desire to make Jesus know right in our own circles. Where we step out when afraid but choose faith. Where we show Gods love even when we’re tired and don’t feel like it. Where we come to our knees, raise our hands and lift up our voices in worship no matter where we are.
This is what living is. Anything short of this is distraction and meaningless.
This is what the people of Atek and our brothers and sisters in Peru taught us. This is living out God’s word. This is what we are called to do. This is our mission.
