Heading
Today's blog is brought to you by the small contingent of young men, Lee, Zach, Nathan and me their not so young bunkmate, Phil.
We started the day with another great breakfast and headed off to work down the street at Anna's house. Anna has been a long time member of the church and has been blessing our missions teams by helping feed us for many years. We were able to bless her and her family with a food hamper; we also assisted in the replacement of her roof which was long overdue. Nathan had a good trip to a local hardware store. Lee enjoyed working side by side with the Guatemalan men and getting things done despite the language barrier. Zach noticed some of the girls slipped away to play street soccer with a young boy.
After lunch we were able to bless 2 more local families with food hampers and prayers. We all were surprised how much of a blessing a simple hamper of food was to them and how appreciated it was. It was also good to meet those people and hear about their lives and families.
Shortly after that we boarded several small trucks and headed to a youth event at a local soccer field. We joined in worship and were blessed with a message from our very own Pastor Stacey. Then the games began and we found out that no matter what part of the world and what language is spoken, all youth enjoy silly games that are slightly embarrassing. I'd like to say we matched their soccer skills and proved Canada strong but we can only attest to our strong spirit, not our soccer skill.
We along with all the youth enjoyed interacting with the Guatemalan youth in the games such as running bowlegged like a fool with a hoolahoop and carrying every team member in a towel relay.
We truly are all God's children and when it comes to that we are all the same!
