We began our day at the Masienze Friends Church, where we were blessed to hear a wonderful sermon and join the congregation in worship and song. After the service, we divided into groups — one leading a hygiene lesson for the girls, the other sharing a teaching on high blood pressure and others reading Bible stories and coloring with kids. Our next few stops were visits with four widows. We met together as sisters in Christ — singing, praying, and sharing words of encouragement. These visits are so special and always seem to go too fast. Our final visit of the day was with Jennifer and her son, Brian. Brian, the young son of one of our widows, became paralyzed two years ago in a gold mining accident. We sat together under the warm African sun, singing as Brian strummed along with his guitar — it was a beautiful moment in the midst of hardship. Both Jennifer and Brian appear to be doing much better this year, and we thank God for that. While we don’t know what the future holds for Brian’s mobility, we trust that the Lord’s hand is upon him. We continue to pray that God will strengthen and guide him to live a fulfilling, and purpose filled life — even amidst the challenges of his health and the location of their home down a tiny narrow path.
